As for the changes, Eddie Chambers drops his previous rank due since he lost to Wladimir Klitschko. Odlanier Solis continues his rise with a win over Carl Davis Drummond. Cristobal Arreola suffered a loss to Tomasz Adamek, which gave a significant boost to Adamek in the rankings.
If Adamek really wants to fight the Klitschko’s, it could be a big mistake. No one at this time appears to be capable of giving either Klitschko brother a good fight. Recent challengers such as Eddie Chambers, Kevin Johnson and Albert Sosnowski have all failed to make their mark. Adamek is a relatively small heavyweight and it is very unlikely that he could pose a big problem for the Klitschko brothers.
This does not mean that it is impossible for Adamek to win a heavyweight belt. The WBA champ, David Haye, is also a former cruiserweight champ. Not only is he a little closer to Adamek’s size, but Adamek would have a fair shot at beating Haye. Unfortunately, Haye would be more likely to run from Adamek than actually face him. Its okay to dream though, isn’t it?
While Adamek continues to prove that he is more than a worthy heavyweight, let’s take a look at the current top ten names in the division ranked by KOnews.net…
1. Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KOs) – With only one fight so far in 2010, “Dr. Steelhammer” defeated top American heavyweight Eddie Chambers by an eleventh-round stoppage. Next, Wladimir faces mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin in September.
2. Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KOs) – Most recently, “Dr. Ironfist” scored a tenth-round knockout over Albert Sosnowski. He is currently negotiating with Nikolai Valuev for a bout possibly in October.
3. David Haye (24-1, 22 KOs) – After easily dispatching John Ruiz, the “Hayemaker” now seeks a new opponent. Still running and hiding from the Klitschko brothers, Haye may face Audley Harrison although nothing has been confirmed.
4. Alexander Povetkin (19-0, 14 KOs) – Povetkin stayed busy with a stoppage victory over Javier Mora in March. Next, he faces the ultimate challenge in facing Wladimir Klitschko in September.
5. Tomasz Adamek (41-1, 27 KOs) – Upon defeating Cristobal Arreola, Adamek showed his worthiness in the heavyweight division. After he faces Michael Grant next month, Adamek hopes to receive a shot at the heavyweight championship.
6. Ruslan Chagaev (26-1-1, 17 KOs) – In his last bout, the “White Tyson” defeated Kali Meehan in a WBA eliminator. There is no word of his next opponent, but it does not appear that David Haye is looking to face him despite his mandatory obligation.
7. Nikolai Valuev (50-2, 34 KOs) – Since losing his WBA title to David Haye, “The Russian Giant” has remained inactive. He already talked himself out of facing Vitali Klitschko for the WBC title, but talks are ongoing again. Another possibility for Valuev is to have a rematch with David Haye.
8. Eddie Chambers (35-2, 18 KOs) – “Fast” Eddie should feel little shame in losing to Wladimir Klitschko in his most recent bout. He could still be a tough task for any top heavyweight. There is no word on his next fight at the moment.
9. Cristobal Arreola (28-2, 25 KOs) – With his recent loss to Tomasz Adamek, Arreola will look to climb his way back up the rankings yet again. Next, Arreola will make an appearance on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights next month.
10. Odlanier Solis (16-0, 12 KOs) – “La Sombra” continues to rack up the wins, most recently against Carl Davis Drummond last March. As the WBC number-one contender, he hopes to land a shot against Vitali Klitschko.

Samuel Peter (34-3, 27 KOs) – With four consecutive victories, “The Nigerian Nightmare” is back to his winning ways. After his win over Nagy Aguilera last March, Peter will continue to move forward.
