MAYWEATHER FINALLY SPEAKS
07/19/2010
When Bob Arum gave a deadline of 12:00am on July 17 for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to accept a deal to face Manny Pacquiao on November 13, Mayweather said nothing.
He allowed the deadline to pass causing speculation around the world as to Mayweather's reasoning. Is it due to the legal issues with his trainer Roger Mayweather? Is it fear?
The next day, Mayweather told The Associated Press why he will not be facing Pacquiao in the near future.
"I'm not interested in rushing to do anything."
"I'm not really thinking about boxing right now," Mayweather said. "I'm just relaxing. I fought about 60 days ago, so I'm just enjoying myself, enjoying life, enjoying my family and enjoying my vacation."
Later, when asked how he felt about Pacquiao facing either Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito later this year, Mayweather stood his ground.
"Like I said, I'm just supporting my family and relaxing," Mayweather said. "That's what I'm doing right now."
