FRIDAY NIGHT RESULTS: SHUMENOV, DEL ROSARIO...

 At the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, CA on Friday night, WBA light heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov defeated Vyacheslav Uzelkov by a one-sided twelve-round unanimous decision. Uzelkov dropped Shumenov with a left hook in round one, but Shumenov came back to drop Uzelkov at the end of round three and dominated the rest of the fight against his gun-shy opponent. Scores were 117-109, and 118-108 twice.
Meanwhile, at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California, middleweight Craig McEwan earned a majority decision over Danny Perez in a close action-packed battle. Scores were 97-93 twice, and 95-95.
Also, at the Salon Jose Cuervo in Mexico City, bantamweight Alejandro Hernandez scored a seventh-round TKO over Jesus Ceja. Hernandez was in control from the start and got the stoppage at the 1:48 mark in the seventh.
In some MMA action at the Comcast Arena in Everett, Wash, in the Strikeforce Challengers 9 headliner, heavyweight prospect Shane del Rosario scored a first-round technical knockout against Lolohea Mahe. Del Rosario earned the victory with knees and punches at the 3:48 mark into the first round.

Some fight fans do not like to hear anything about a rivalry between the sports of MMA and boxing or even the UFC and boxing. These fans will say that you can be a fan of both or neither, and that they are totally different, hence making either comparison illogical.
