MANNY PACQUIAO VS. ANTONIO MARGARITO ON 11/13/10

07/25/2010

Antonio MargaritoBob Arum of Top Rank revealed on Saturday night that pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao will fight Antonio Margarito in a junior middleweight bout on November 13th.

The contest will likely be for the WBC title the was vacated by Sergio Martinez. A victory would give Pacquiao his record eighth divisional title.

The fight was made after Floyd Mayweather Jr. allowed a deadline set by Top Rank for a proposed megafight to pass last weekend without a word. Mayweather told the AP two days later that he is in no rush to fight again and is spending time with his family.

Arum said he wants to hold the Pacquiao-Margarito bout in Las Vegas. For that to happen, Margarito would need to get licensed in Nevada, and his request earlier this month was denied by the state athletic commission until he answers to authorities in California.

Another possibility is Texas, where 50,000 people packed into Cowboys Stadium to see Pacquiao defeat Joshua Clottey earlier this year. If the fight can not be made in the states, then it may take place in Mexico.
